Staci,
I know the feeling. I take 30MG of Adderall twice Daily.LOL yes I am on the highest dossage possiable. It does help a lot. I started on Adderall in 1997 and was on it up until 5 years ago. They also had me on Dexastrat (spelling) in the morning to get me up and going, and I was also on Celexa for depression. I had lost a lot of weight and had to make myself eat. I started back on the meds about a month ago after 5 or more years off (I wanted to get have a child and was ok to be off for awhile (boy was that hard).
I had an awesome DR.(he had adhd himself) who made me read a lot of material of how to cope and use coping mechanisim when off my meds. He also had me read an article about that Meds for ADD and ADHD were derived from diet pills like dexatrim. He said so many people would take dexatrim to stay awake to study, some had rapid heart rate and jittery (non adder), some did not feel like it helped at all or calmed or focused them (adder). Made sense to me.
I lost around 7 pounds in the last month. (i needed to anyway). I tend to eat something before I take the meds and then make myself eat something small like a bar or small salad. I try to take my second Adderall so it can wear off by dinner time. I also have tourettes (mild case) so I have other issues. They put me on Lexapro for Depression and I take that at night.. My appetiate never was back to normal. I did start enjoying food again after awhile. The problem I have is I enjoy a glass of wine on occasion and they do not suggest it. I tried to have one the other night and it put me to sleep so fast. Usually I can have two before I feel anything and it usually does not put me to sleep..
Just give it time..have someone that you trust help you with the reminding you to eat and if they see you loosing to much weight be open for them to tell you and talk to your DR.
Another tip my dr gave me and I don't know if it is true. Don't drink to much of acidy drinks. like OJ.. it slows down the effect of adderall..
Welcome fellow ADDER. I always say I am trully blessed to have ADD. Wished I knew i had it during high school and before..
I am a creative Speller.... If Sheakspear can do it so can I!!!
