I have recently been diagnosed with inattentive subtype ADHD w/o hyperactivity. The psych wants to put me on Adderall but I was researching herbal remedies and found Native Remedies Focus ADDult. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this with any success or if it is just a bunch of snake oil.
I am nervous about taking any meds.

What are you nervous about? I am 34 yr old female ADHDer inattentive w/o hyperactivity. I take Concerta fyi.
Researched many alternatives, but nothing seems to appear to cut it and well I spend most of my life trying things when the best thing was right in front of me there along, so with the faith my doctor I keep to meds she recommends. I still have long terms concerns but right now its working and this is what I focus on.
Permalink Reply by Sara R on March 18, 2012 at 12:29am As I am learning more I am not as nervous, but still curious if this worked for anyone. My psych had two months to send a report to my primary doc, but couldn't get his act together to get a report done before I lose my insurance this month so now I have to wait 6 months for my husband to have insurance through his new job so I can afford to go to the doctor every two weeks while they adjust the medicine. In the meantime I am looking for alternatives because now that I am diagnosed and I know what it is I feel like I want to do something. I just won't have insurance for a while, but I know I need help.

I've tried Native Remedies Focus and Focus Adult. One made an improvement, the other not so much. And I can't remember which is which! Sorry.
Try Dr. Amen's website and books on ADD. He has a list of supplements that have worked for different types of ADD. He's well worth the read.
I have luck with supplements that contain phosphatidylserine, extra vitamin b and vinpocetine. I think it depends on the individual. If you want to PM me, I'll let you know specific brands, if you think that might help.
I think meds have a real place in the treatment of ADD. I also think supplements do. And I've had good luck with a routine of regular exercise, meditation, making sure I get a good night's sleep, eating very little sugar-type stuff.
I'm always ADD, but my ability to accomplish goals goes way up with the supplements and the lifestyle routine.

Permalink Reply by Sara R on March 18, 2012 at 2:07pm I am on a paleo diet (way of eating/lifestyle) and I do take supplements. If I eat sugar or gluten I do feel a fog come over me that I can now see is just a worsening of ADD symptoms. I do take fish oil and extra B vitamins. I will message you about your experience.
I am getting back into a yoga and walking routine. I had major surgery back in November and it has been a very slow healing process with a few set backs. I do feel better when I exercise and not being able to perform at the intensity I am used to has made my mental condition more difficult to cope with.
I will definitely look into Dr. Amen. Thank you, Mary.
Permalink Reply by Julia on March 18, 2012 at 6:21pm I'm the same. I take fish oil and evening primrose oil, B6 and zinc. I exercise for 30 minutes a day, try and try to get a good nights sleep everynight, cut back on sugar, dairy and gluten and still I have my adhd. I would do anything to not have to rely on meds.
Permalink Reply by Mareocean on March 19, 2012 at 12:56am Hi there,
I am the same as you with supplements and diet - I include a little dairy but no soy products for me.
Nice to see others taking same stuff.
I can't imagine life without meds, which is over whelming when I think about forever, but for right now its working so I go with that.
Yoga, running, swimming, diving, cycling you name it I do it!! Exercise, good diet, sleep all good things for us ADHDers.....
