I have always had anxiety issues. I just didn't know what to call it.
I had panic attacks as a child, mostly to do with my abuse and parents.
Then I became very shy. I'm not a shy girl. Then I would be neurotic and teased. To cope I stayed in my own world.
This is why I thought I had add and got diagnosed.
I got adderall but it did nothing, helped me focus, that's when I realized it's really the anxiety that's my problem.
work has become a nightmare i work in retail and people think I'm stuck up and mean. it hurts that people say this.
a few get to know me
I need to get meds i have panic attacks what do i do? has anyone else had this?

Permalink Reply by Theotterone on January 28, 2013 at 7:08pm I've had depression and panic disorder most of my life. I was diagnosed inattentive at age 34 (now 37). While the Adderall helps my anxiety, I still need my anxiety meds. The two go together a lot of the time, so you may have to work with your doctor on it. I accept I'll be meds for all for the rest of my life, but I've been ok with that for a long time. I'm adjusting to going back on my Adderall and my anxiety is high during that time, but I know it gets better.
On top of that you need to get over what other people think. It's hard when we're insecure, but I have found as I pick and choose my "battles" and what I worry about, what certain people think of me just isn't one of them.
Hang in there!

Permalink Reply by Mewithadd on January 30, 2013 at 7:14pm Have you been diagnosed with ADD from a professional? Who prescribed the Adderall? Living with ADD can cause anxiety and depression. There are other medications out there for ADD. Have you tried a stimulant? I think you should get set up with a psychiatrist (preferably someone that specializes with adult ADHD). Get tested to see if it is ADD. Good Luck!!!
Permalink Reply by Abbs88 on January 31, 2013 at 11:16am Hey yeah I have been diagnosed by a psychologist with inattentive adhd. But you're right I do need a psychiatrist. Adderall is a stimulant though isn't it? I have a question how did you guys find your psychiatrist. I went to my health insurance website and there are lists of them, but its hard to find any real reviews…what to do?
Permalink Reply by Mewithadd on January 31, 2013 at 11:51am Yes, adderall is a stimulant I meant to say have you tried any other stimulants. Sorry. Who is prescribing your adderall? A psychologist is fine to work with. Does this person specialize in ADHD? I found my psychiatrist via "google". She specializes in ADHD and prescribes my meds. However, I do need to find a counselor that specializes in ADHD. I would use the website to search for a doctor. Good Luck!!

Permalink Reply by Theotterone on January 31, 2013 at 7:47pm You could also ask your psychologist who they would refer you to since they were the ones who diagnosed you.
