Women With ADHD ADD

For Women with ADHD ADD Who Want to Connect

Do you find that because of your ADHD certain things bug or bother you more? I have some pet peeves that just drive me crazy!

Not being able to find my glasses (reading or sunglasses)
Slow drivers in any lane (i'm from the midwest where everyone's a leadfoot)
-People(friends) who say they'll call and then don't
-Poor grammer/spelling. I know some people can't help it but if I can't read it, I won't read it.
-commercials that are over-played a bazillion times that I want to puke!
-Bosses and supervisors who think they're better than you just because of their position
-Same goes for co-workers
-Being on eternal hold or never getting that "live" person
-My daughter's messes (I can barely handle my own!)
-Computers, printers, etc., when they don't work right and I can't figure it out
-Dirty toilets
-Waiting for people so we can go somewhere or do something. Rather than being late, I am chronically early!
-Getting behind that slowpoke at the store when I am in a hurry.
-Neighbors who don't know what 10pm means
-When I'm cooking and run out of an essential ingredient then I have to go to the store
-Skinny women at the gym who are vain in flaunting it (and these women are over age 35)
-Having a disagreement with a friend when I know I'm right about something
-Dealing with insurance companies (yes, all insurance companies)
-Getting ripped off from a mechanic or not getting what I paid for
-yes, nails on a chalkboard
-noisy children or pets (and yes I had both)
-people who are fake with their sincerity or compassion
-crowded places (just one reason why I moved from Chicago to Portland)
-narrowminded people like my siblings
-excuses
-whining by adults
-negativity
-dirty dishes laying around the house (same goes for used tissue)
-telemarketers at work or being faxed (i'm a receptionist and answer the phone enough without those!)
-clothing that is too tight
-people who don't send thank you's. (i sent gifts last christmas and not one thank you or return gift. they won't be getting them this year. can't afford it)
-men who think they're being gentlemanly but are just being chauvinistic
-people who talk "down" to me
-bad tv shows
-musicians who think they're talented. what's up with the guitar banging and "growling"?
-people who call your number and say "I just missed a call from this number" and they think you know who called them.

I'm sure I could think of more but my daughter pulled my line, "I'll be waiting in the car!" For once, she's on time!

Have a great day ladies!

LOL - I could ditto you on any of these.

commercials drive me crazy
or my kiddos saying "mom,mom,mom"....of course that's my fault - cuz I am probably "zoned out" in my ADHD world. :-)

guess it all goes along with my impulsivity, impatience and sensitivities to various sounds, touches, smells - etc.

glad someone else notices this stuff too

People making noises while they eat....This used to bother me unbelievably when I was a kid. I haven't noticed it for a long time..until now. I wonder what that means...

Amy - When my kids did that, I used to tell them that "mommy is on vacation right now, go ask daddy" or "mom is unavailable at the moment, please leave a message after the tone." and then i'd make the classic beep noise. it helped to lighten the moment. :)

And debbie - people who chew with their mouth open or talk with food in their mouth (and don't cover) are just rude. but i must admit, I have been guilty of both. LOL

OMG you found my list!!! haha.
-I cant stand when someone INSISTS they WILL be there and then dont show. Is it really so hard to say, no thanks I cant make it???
-Noisey, squishy gum or food chewing....UGH!!! GROSSS
-absolutley the slow inconsiderate drivers. MOVE out of "my" lane...haha
-toothpaste in the sink and all over the faucet. (my place may be clutterd, by my sinks are clean! haha
-the grammer and spelling one was funny. Ive tried online dating, and I wont give you a second though if you cant put the friggin "h" in wHat. Its not "wat" Is it so hard to click that extra key?? LOL I can understand with texting (if you dont have a full keyboard).
-what about people who take you for granted...jjst start talking to you...ask you quesitons and dont care if you are inthe middle of something. OR worse yet, ask you a question then either tell you "no thats wrong" (then why ask me) or dont stick around for the answer.
I could go on. Your list is great! The commercials...I am so SICK OF CHAD!!!! and those stupid pseudo cell phone imitators. Ok I better stop... feeling a little anxious now...hahaha
Thank you for this!

Janelle - It's okay. You caught your "grammar" mistake. It's those people who consistently spell things wrong throughout an entire email. Those are the ones I have a peeve about. And the toothpaste? OMG! I don't have much of a problem about that anymore but when my kids were little I did. Or how about when men don't flush the toilet before they shower and then they conveniently forget until you go in there and lift up the lid to find their ____! That's just gross but it's really annoying because they would never do anything different!
People who take me for granted isn't necessarily a pet peeve of mine but rather, I get upset at myself for allowing it to happen.
What is CHAD?
OMG, those phone calls! "Hi, this is John calling...." and you know it's a recording. A couple of times I've listened further but it just goes on and on and on. I usually hang up right away.

Well I wish I could use the daddy line - single mom here - I use the line from the movie "Get Smart" (once I actually hear the "mom" call) and laughing reply with "amanda, amanda, amanda - see how annoying that is...."

Sorry..."CHAD" is a character in an Alltell comercial that they play waaaay too much.
As for restroom issues...I cant understand how the womens restroom in my office is SO nasty! Come on ladies we are ADULTS for petes sake. Clean up after yourselves! Is it really that hard to flush (men and women)? *sigh*

We have a commercial here for an auto body repair shop and they have this whole "series" of this woman who had to have her foot replaced and they used a larger foot than the other one. It is soooo stupid!

Yeah, I think women are more gross with their bathroom habits than men are. They usually go in there, do their duty and leave. Women linger and get paper and trash everywhere!

yeah, that works. give the kiddos a dose of their own medicine. LOL once they see how irritating it can be, often they'll quit.

Ha! These are great!
For those of you with multiple hypersensitivities like me, there's a fascinating thread at my Moms with ADD site about how we can be over the top annoyed with sensory related things. The thread is at http://www.momswithadd.com/profiles/blogs/adhd-and-hypersensitivities

LOL that is sooooo funny and true! My pet peeves are all those and then some.
-bus drivers that drive past you when you are standing directly beside the bus stop sign...in the rain!
-people in general who think they're better than me
-being whispered about...and the person isn't at whisper volume level so you can hear everything
-being left out of loop so I end up saying or doing something inappropriate or stupid
-having suggestions/ideas not ignored but trashed and stepped on and then ignored
-people who sneeze on directly as though they didn't know you were there; even though you've been standing in front of them for the past 30 minutes on the subway
-Men who push women to get on the bus or train and men who don't offer their seats to teh elderly or pregnant
Smell, smells, smell! I can't stand to be somewhere, by someone, or eat something that stinks! Smells (stinky ones) make me uncomfortable...very much so. I even excuse myself from situations if it stinks.
