Women With ADHD ADD

For Women with ADHD ADD Who Want to Connect

Hi I'm wondering what to do next, I have not been diagnosed with adhd yet everything I've read on it has completely opened my eyes as to what's been going on with me since I can remember, I believe my mom also has it and my middle son. Everyone around me feels that I'm lying or not trying hard enough. I am going crazy, i'm angry . No one is like you are right this is it! I have been on so many antidepressants and Xanax nothing has worked! My symptoms since I can rember include daydreaming, can't pay attention, can't, sit for any length of time, anxiety with people, can't keep a job, poor memory, anger, low-selfesstem, I can't stay anywhere along time, I don't keep friends, I can't read anything unless it interests me and even then it's hard to focus and not get distracted. If anyone on has any suggestions please help this is how my whole life has been. I'm so tired of feeling like this and everyone telling me that this is not how I feel or how I am. I have silently suffered to long. What is next?

Have you been to your doctor? Read any of the recommended books on this site for a way forward? There is no easy answer or solution as we are all so individual. I would advise speaking to a professional or seeking out a local support group.

Try to do your research when you see a doctor. Many of them do still believe the myth that ADD/HD is simply a kids disease, that women cannot get it (like Autism that it's somehow more likely in boys although that's not entirely true either) If you are in Therapy ask your therapist if they can recommend your a doctor or if they can write a referral (that includes you symptoms they have witnessed/diagnosed). If you're not in Therapy, you may want to consider going.I know it might be embarrassing and there are a lot of stereotypes about Therapy out there but none of them are true.Even if you find a doctor or psychiatrist who will treat your ADD/HD,Medication alone will not help you.At least not completely.a combo of cognitive behavioral Therapy and Meds is most effective and can help you manage symptoms easier or find ways to work around them. The chadd.org is a good source as well, they can refer you to sites that let you look up doctors/therapists/Psychs in your area and their field of expertise.I know it is hard but please do not get discouraged,it takes some time to find the right professionals to help you.I have been through 10 Therapists and 3 doctors before I found what works for me.Good luck

Thank you gal's for the helpful advice! I plan on seeing my doctor this week and to get back into therapy! My therapists thought that that I had social anxiety. So maybe if I can talk to her without freaking out and try to arrange my word's correctly hopefully. Let y'all know how it goes:)

Yeah definitely let us know how it goes,we wish you the best, don't give up that's the most important part
