Comment by Sarah on September 2, 2012 at 8:36pm Sandra - my neurologist tested me for thyroid issues when he did my initial diagnosis just to make sure, so indeed there seems to be a real overlap in symptoms. In my case, no, it's just ADHD, but it's good to know.

Comment by jennbalaya on September 1, 2012 at 11:56pm Hey guys, I just moved to Lexington, MA -- from Tacoma, WA. I was very active in the ADD community in the Seattle/Tacoma area, where I co-facilitated a support group and was a member of the Board of ADD Resources... Wondering about local support groups and looking to make some friends :)
Comment by Sandra L. Cardoza on February 15, 2012 at 10:11am hello all....new member from New Bedford! I was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD some years ago, but not 'til after a messy divorce opened my eyes to a few things. I knew that there must be a reason for the way that I acted all of those years and I was thrilled when someone was finally able to put a label on it....even more so when I began taking Concerta and it changed my life. Recently, I went for an MRI on my cervical spine and was shocked when my GP called to say he wanted me to come in and discuss the results (he hadn't been the one to order the MRI so I was confused as to why it had been passed along to him). The imaging showed that I was "missing" one "wing" or lobe of my thyroid gland (if you look at an image of it, it is shaped somewhat like a butterfly). I've gone for a myriad of bloodtests, the results of which I haven't heard back on yet but in reading about the symptoms of Hoshimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease, I'm finding that the symptoms sound a LOT like ADD. Has anyone else out there been diagnosed as having thyroid problems? I'm wondering if my ADD is a co-diagnosis or if what I thought was ADD all of these years was actually Hypothyroidism. When I read through the list of symptoms, I thought that they were writing it with personal knowledge of what I've been going through all my life!
