I was on Strattera and it worked great but the side effects outweighted the great benefits so the dr has been trying different stuff I hate, concerta, adderall and was wondering if anyone has liked Strattera and had success with over the counter stuff.

Comment by Jennifer on August 25, 2011 at 1:13pm: Sharon, Welcome and I am sorry you feel that way.Unfortunatelly my Dr. has been changing my meds up a lot lately trying to find the best one, actually any one that will work really, and so I have been in ADD whirlwind and brain fog and I can't seem seem to stay ontop of anything for the past few months. I am a complete mess so I do appologize. Anxiety and depression has keep me from living, and other medical issues with cronic pain in lower left pelvic has left me debilitated for many months. I have been running from Dr. to Dr. referral to referral, tests and more tests at the hospital and still no answers as to what is causing my horrible pain that leaves me doubled over and crawling on all fours just to make it to the bathroom. This has increasingly been getting worse over the past year and a half, it happens sporadicly and lasts anywhere from 8 to 19 days every month. So when I am not in pain I spend my time trying to catch up on all the stuff I couldn't do when I was laid up. I hope you will forgive me and understand my delema. You really are not too far from me and if you want to be friends I would love that, if you can bear with my inconsistancies for a while untill all these Dr.s can try to fix me. I also suffer from social anxity which is why I did not respond to your post earlier. Please do resopnd, and don't give up on this group, it takes everyone being as honest as you to make stronger connections and motivate us to improve. We are all equal here and I hope you all feel free to jump in and let your ideas, needs, motivations flow freely so we can have a better group. I started this group because Virginia didn't have one and because I feel alone. However I am not much of a leader and encourage you all to step up, say what you want, expect, and dream for this group to become. We all live in VA and we are all in the same boat struggling with ADD. Some of us may have been too shy in the past to fully express ourselves on hear, so from hear on out I lets make a pact to make this the best group we can. Individually we all have our streangths and weaknesses, my dream is that if we can share those with each other, use our individual strengths together, encourage and support each others weaknesses, may each of us can reach our best potential individually and as a group whole. I wish there was a way to map us all and find one central place where we could meet in person, I am not so good with computers so if anyone knows how to do this and embed in on here with the ability for new members to flag their home as well. Also some kind of list with each of our names and what days and times we are best available to interact online somehow as well as in person would help our group progress. Another possibility in addition might be a list of each of our names and an at a glance inventory of our individual strenghts and weaknesses, that way when we do interact as a whole we can better help each other, teach each other, support each other. We all have dreams and challenges,most of our brains and bodies are functioning at decreased levels alone, but if we could work as a team ..... imagine the possibilities. As you can see I am an ideas person, creative, loving and caring, but shy and lack dicipline and logical thinking to make decisions and choices. I struggle to evaluate and find the best corse of action and the courage to do so along with an difficult time with followthough and always second guess myself maybe it is fear, perfectionism, or social anxiety that holds me back coupled with my phyisical symptoms that cause things to fall through the cracks. I propose we work together to make this a better place for all of us. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I believe that the universe or God or whatever you believe in puts people together for a reason: to better fulfill their souls purpose. See Sharons negative comment took me a while to respond to, but I think we may all share in her disappointment and that sparked in me a new vision for our group. As long as we can all treat each other with respect and love gentle or firm when needed. I say let's do it. What are your thoughts??????

I have gotten a lot of help from the TotallyADD.com website. They have good webinars with experts from time to time and some good reading materials and video. I also enjoyed reading ADD Stole My Car Keys, by Rick Green. Anyone have anything else to recommend?
