ADD strikes again

This was a new one. I'm getting ready to leave the house, got my keys, my sunglasses, my cell phone. Searching for my bluetooth, thought I may have left it on my bed, but no go. Starting to panic a little, can't figure out what I did with it. Thought about going to another room to see if my phone signals my bluetooth is in another room. Just as I'm considering this, my neck starts to ache, and I absent-mindedly reach up to massage it. That's when I realize my bluetooth is in my ear. I could not…See More

I've had to face some realities as far as jobs go. I am simply NOT geared to do a lot of office jobs. Why?1) They're too stressful2) I have to hyperfocus in order to get things done3) There's entirely too much paper4) My personality clashes with over-or under-management5) Because of #1, I'd be eating too much junkI'm in my 50's. I can no longer do the type of office work I once did. What I've decided to do is to work temp as much as I can, do some work from home as a side business, and save,…See More

Being a good adhd mom of adult children

...this is something I have occasional success at. Sometimes I am a wonderful, funny, compassionate, supportive mom who gives her sons (also adhd) support, but also space to live their lives their own way.  The other times I am a worried parent who reminds them about things they already know about and worries they might forget their phone or license (it's happened) and spends way too much time trying to micro-manage two reasonably well-functioning adults. At the same time I constantly forget…See More

Trying to train myself to LISTEN

I've decided to work on my ADHD traits, one at a time. This week, I'm working on listening to others without interrupting and without starting to talk before they are finished. It may take a while to overcome this one. I've been doing it for years.I'll start tomorrow. Today's already shot.I'd welcome all feedback on this, especially if you've found ways to stop doing this.Jae See More

oops --- something I said didn't come out quit right. I ment to say of those the gal is working with -- teens and adults who HAVE (Not ARE) lower income. I'm in a lower income bracket myself. I am also happy to voluntarily do the presentation again and not be paid to do it if she thinks it would be of help to her group. Being able to positively effect someone's life even if I can't see it is just as rewarding. ~ Marr

Hi Jae! My presentation was a success! I got enthusiastic clapping, and one gal asked me if I'd be willing to do a repeat preformance just as I presented it last night. She said she works as a volunteer, about 20 minutes from here, working with teens and adult women who are lower income. She loved my concept and felt her group could greatly benefit from what I shared. My presentation lasted about 45 minutes and then had Q & A afterward. I was able to do the whole thing at a good clip with all my clothing props and only once had to look at a paper for some numbers. Everything I said I showed with a clothing/accessory prop. We had women from a broad spectrum of ages up thru 90, and I even managed to keep their interest they said. I was so relieved. Now it will be interesting to see how many of them try out the ideas. ~ Marr
