Went for a walk this evening

Realized I have absolutely no sense of time.  I thought I was gone for a 1/2 hour but it was more like 15 minutes!  Oh well, it's a start at least.See More

So I was downtown this afternoon, walking to my shrink appointment, and the people in front of me were walking SO SLOW.  I didn't see any cars coming so I stepped out into the street to pass them.  I thought I heard something behind me that sounded like a big truck, and I got back on the sidewalk just as a big truck drove by right where I had been walking!  I realized that I was walking down a one-way street and hadn't even glanced behind me before stepping off the curb.  I could have been…See More

Do I go for a promotion or not?

So I have a week to decide if I want to go for a promotion at work or not.  Besides the obvious question of whether or not I want to take on more responsibility, my biggest concern is over the hours and the commute.  I'd be working the same number of hours, but the new job starts earlier and has a longer commute.  Now my drive is about 20 minutes each way - the new job would be at least an hour each way by public transit - bus and subway/train.  I'd have to get up at least 2 hours earlier than…See More

Tips for Getting Ready in the Morning

I am late for work almost every day.    It doesn't matter how early I get up, I still get distracted and underestimate how long it takes to do things.  Does anyone have any strategies that help you stay on schedule?  I'll share one of mine: In the shower, I sing "The Ants Go Marching."  It takes 3-4 stanzas to shampoo, rinse, and apply conditioner; 1-2 to wash my face; 3-4 to wash the rest of me, and 1 stanza to rinse.  See More

For the procrastinators . . .

So, I went to read the article about the medication shortage and several minutes and mouse clicks later, I stumbled across this article on procrastination: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/42578065/ You gotta read the comments!  Too funny.  But no one had posted my favorite mantra:Never put off for tomorrow, what you can put off forever.See More

How I do laundry (or what I do instead of laundry)

OK, so before I can even start writing this post, I have to set the timer to remind myself when it's time to switch over the laundry.  I live in a condo that only has 2 washers & dryers so before I do anything else, I have to go and check and make sure a washer is free.  They both are so I start gathering and sorting laundry - jeans in one basket, sweaters, tops, pajamas (DARN! I knew I forgot something!) in the other.  Then I wonder if they're either A) too big for one load or B) too small…See More

Funny ADD Moment

Posted on March 12, 2010 at 12:22am 3 Comments

A week or so ago, I was reading a book on ADD and one of the questions it asked was "Do you write lots of reminders for yourself on little pieces of paper?"
I said "HA! NO! I use my hand."

Then I looked at my hand and saw that I was supposed to call someone at 2 p.m. and it was now 8 p.m. and too late to call. *sigh*
