Hello, Tara... I was the instigator of the "Women over 50" group in your website, Candace Laska, sending you a copy of a message I just sent the new members.  Just to let you know I am asking for someone else to take the responsibility of keeping up with responding, I let it slide for too long.  But in checking in today, I see all the new groups that have formed and all the discussions.  What a great group this continues to be, thanks to you for starting it and to the women for keeping it hopping! Here's a copy of my letter to the group:

I'm Candace Laska, I set the "over 50" group up years ago because there was so little available for people aging with ADHD, especially those who receive the diagnosis as an older person.

I'm writing to greet you all, to celebrate that you were resourceful enough to find other groups that meet your needs in this great site, and to ask if someone is willing to take over the "leadership" roll for a while, as I don't seem to keep up with all my volunteer responsibilities lately and I'm sure someone else will be great at it.

I have not looked at this site for ages, not that I didn't need it, I've kind of lost my passion for many things except my daughter, my granddaughter, and a few friends.

During that time I fear I have left a lot of eager prospective members of the over-50 group waiting to be "approved."  I think I just approved all those waiting. I notice that many of you have found other groups to belong to, including the "recently diagnosed" group.

I can see that I once again need the friendship and sharing from all of your collected wisdom and the warm, non-judgmental connections you all provide.

Please check in with me for any reason, and especially if you are willing to put yourself in the leadership role, there's not much required.  You will get emails ( I stopped getting them, I think.) from women who are asking to be added to the group, and then you come into the group list and click "requests for membership" or something like that, and approve them.

I usually like to ask for a brief story of their experience with ADHD/ADD, their age, their feelings and concerns, to make sure this is the right site for them.

Anyway, it's a rainy Sunday in Portland, Oregon.  Still in my jammies at 1:30, with to many to do's.  I'll bet more than a few of you are chuckling to yourselves if you're in the same condition.  I live alone, I'd be more motivated if I didn't.

If any of you are in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area, I'd sure love to get together now and then.  Anybody?  thanks... Candace

Hi Tara,

The issue is that she is writing about me in posts. I don not have the ability to delete these posts. The same slander has been copied and pasted into four discussions, in some cases where she was not the original poster and the conversation thread has been hijacked.

thanks,

Beth

Hi Tara,

I'm not sure if you're the moderator for this site but there's a poster that's running rampant!

Please have a look at "rebecca's" comment history.  You can also see my own and see that I am doing my best to make helpful comments on a variety of topics. You may want to consider blocking this person, or at the very least please delete all comments in reference to me.

I've noticed only a couple people on here that are making very extreme comments and to be honest with you I think it might be hindering helpful dialogue. It would be a terrible thing for very few people to taint the overall vibe of this wonderful site. Overall this site provides the best information/resources I have found for women with adhd and some of the conversations are starting read like an episode of Jerry Spinger. I recognize that we all have crazy stuff that happens, espescially with adhd, but some of this is going too far and is really not related to add/adhd.

Just a thought.

Cheers,

Beth

Hubby burned out, won't get counselling, wants out of what he calls a codependants in codependant relationship after 30 years of marriage on Nov. 8th. Also he says we are now separated in our own house with nowhere to go. No friends can help and "his body he says is saying no.
BP, overweight, stress with my diag. and living this way for 30 years with no help. Christian Counsellors couldn't help with this and not even now. Can't get in for any, on waiting lists up here. Marriage will be over if this keeps up. No money even to do this. Now what. Paulette

I was recently diagnosed w/ADD and I am 55. I have always known something was wrong with me and have suffered from depression most of my life. I wish I had known earlier so could develop better social skills and not be lonely. I have just begun taking Concerta xr, Wellbutrin, & Ritalin (after Concerta wears off). I hoped helps. I appreciate comments about getting help from a professional therapist. I am looking for one that specializes in ADD in the danbury/brookfield, CT. Do you know of any?
