I joined about 30 seconds ago, and am trying to help a friend/colleague find a good psychiatrist (or equivalent) to explore an ADHD diagnosis. I am over near Syracuse but she is north of Saratoga. Although she did meet with a female (!) psychiatrist yesterday, the psychiatrist did exactly what you describe-- tell her that she wouldn't have done so well in school if she had it!! yuck. I've struggled with the same issue (I also have a PhD) and am hoping you can share some of your resources re Albany.
