Hi all!
I am recently diagnosed at 43 and have been on a learning journey about ADHD. There is so much more to the disorder than I could have ever imagined. Put aside all the things I thought were "just me", such as extreme overwhelm, stuck in neutural and easily frustrated. I just can't sit and play with my kids for more that 3 minutes. It's really painful! However, after being put on Vyvanse, I am seeing many other physical changes, as well.
I was being treated for severe myofacial tightness that no PT could ever explain. They could say, however, that it contributed to the majority of my pain. I asked them why I was so restricted fascially, and they could never say why. It was "just me".
My next ailment was even worse, TMJ headaches. They were debilitating. Nothing ever worked and I would be in bed for weekends! The Oral surgeon said I had Myofascial pain. I got checked for Fibromyalgia, and was found negative. I was left to take muscle relaxers and occassional Vicodin for pain. I did find that I was much more productive and focused on Vicodin (enjoyed playing with kids without thinking I had to be somewhere else).
After being on Vyvanse, my headaches all but disappeared...unless it was wearing off too early. I am wondering if anyone else has stories of how ADHD caused them pain. Is jaw clenching considered "fidgiting" in adults? I would love to hear from you! Thanks!
Christine
